1: Installing libpcap
cd /usr/local/src
wget http://ovh.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/libpcap/libpcap-0.8.1.tar.gz
tar -zxvf libpcap-0.8.1.tar.gz
cd libpcap-0.8.1
./configure
make && make install
2: Installing IFTOP
cd /usr/local/src
wget http://www.ex-parrot.com/~pdw/iftop/download/iftop-0.17.tar.gz
tar -zxvf iftop-0.17.tar.gz
cd iftop-0.17
./configure
make && make install
3: Making IFTOP root only
chmod 700 /usr/sbin/iftop
How to use IFTOP
Start it:
iftop -i eth0
