Unsuspend an Account of Bandwidth Exceeders in WHM (Complete Guide)

Hello Everyone! Today, we are going to discuss about how to unsuspend an account of Bandwidth Exceeders. Here we are going to discuss about the unsuspending the accounts which have been suspended because they have exceeded the bandwidth limit. Along with that we will also discuss about how the system handles the bandwidth limits for any account, methods to remove these limitations, and how to unsuspend an account of Bandwidth Exceeders.

Let’s discuss about how the system handles the Bandwidth limits for any account:

Mostly the system automatically initiates temporary limits on accounts which exceed the monthly bandwidth limit at the same time the system automatically removes the limits at the beginning of every month, when that account no longer exceeds the limit.

Important Note:

The bandwidth limiting is only imposed on the account’s Apache services by the system. Still the users can access the FTP Mail, DAV services, even if that users’ account exceeds the monthly bandwidth limit. The following statements are true if the system forces the account limitations due to bandwidth limiting:

  1. The limitations are imposed only on those accounts which are accessed by the user via the http or https method.
  • In the WHMs’ “View Bandwidth Usage” interface you will find the “Disk Used” value exceeds the “Disk Limit” setting. Follow the below steps for accessing the “View Bandwidth Usage” interface:

Log in to the WHM >> you will see the WHMs’ home interface>> Navigate to the “Account Information” category >> then select “View Bandwidth Usage” interface.

  • Following directory contains ./user and ./domain files which corresponds to the account:

/var/cPanel/bwlimited

Let’s discuss the methods to remove these limitations:

For removing these limitations, use one of the following methods:

  1. In the WHMs’ “Limit Bandwidth Usage” interface increase the bandwidth limit for that particular user. Use the following steps for accessing the “Limit Bandwidth Usage” interface

Log into the WHM >> you will see WHMs’ Home interface>> Navigate to the “Account Functions” option >> select the “Limit Bandwidth Usage”

  • In the WHMs’ “Edit a Package” interface increase the “Monthly Bandwidth Limit” setting for all of the package’s users. Follow the below steps for accessing the “Edit a Package” interface:

Log in to WHM >> you will see WHMs’ home interface>> navigate to the “Packages” function>> then select the “Edit a Package” interface.

  • In the WHMs’ “Modify an Account” interface increase the “Monthly Bandwidth Limit” setting for that particular user. Follow the below steps for accessing the “Modify an Account” interface:

Log in to the WHM >> you will see WHMs’ home interface >> navigate to the “Account Functions” option >> then select the “Modify an Account” interface.

Important note:

If you make changes to these settings then it may trigger a package conflict.

  • If you want to remove the limitations for all the accounts present on your server which exceeds the monthly bandwidth limits then use WHMs’ “Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders” interface. For accessing the “Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders” interface follow the below steps:

Log in to WHM >> you will see WHMs’ home interface >> navigate to the “Account Functions” option >> select the “Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders” interface.

Now we are going to discuss about how to unsuspend an account of Bandwidth Exceeders:

Using this feature you can simultaneously unsuspend all of the accounts which have exceeded their bandwidth. Until you perform the next bandwidth check, these accounts will remain unsuspended. When any account of the user exceeds its bandwidth limit, then that website becomes inaccessible to the visitors but the accounts’ owner can still log in to their cPanel account.

How to unsuspend accounts:

First of all access the “Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders” interface using following steps:

Log in to WHM >> you will see WHMs’ home interface >> navigate to the “Account Functions” option >> select the “Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders” interface

Then for unsuspending an account which has exceeded their bandwidth, click “Proceed”. You will receive following confirmation message:

Keep in mind:

That the suspending an account and the bandwidth limiting are two separate functions. Sometimes one is mistaken for another.
