Setting up Email Encryption in cPanel? Simply Explained

In the previous blogs, we have learned how to set up an Email Address Importer and also how to set up Email Authentications. In this Blog, we will be discussing Email Encryption as mentioned above.

Email Encryption:-

It uses a publicly available encryption scheme that uses public key approach is called as GnuPG. Using GnuPG messages are encrypted using “Public Key”, but they can only be decrypted by “Private Key”, which is retained by only the intended recipient of the message.

So let’s see how to access this feature: the First log into your cPanel >> then navigate to Email >> Under it you will find Encryption option. It looks like this :

Here you can see various options. Let’s discuss them in detail :

  1. Create a New Key :

For creating a new GnuPG key, perform the following steps:

  • Your Name: – In this text box enter your name.
  • Your Email: –In this text box enters your Email.
  • Comment or Nickname: – Enter your nickname or any comment.
  • Key Password: – Enter a secure password.
  • Confirm Password:- Confirm the password.
  • Expiration Date: – Enter an appropriate expiration date for your key. Default, the system sets it to 1 year.
  • Key Size: – Select the key size from the key size menu.
  • Click “Generate Key”.
  • After successful creation of the key you will receive a confirmation message as follows:

  • Import a Key:

For importing an existing GnuPG key, perform the following steps:

Click “Import Key”. A new interface will appear as follows :

  • Here Copy and paste the available key in the given text box.
  • Click “Import”
  • The key will be automatically installed by the system as shown below:

Actions :

  • Delete GnuPG Keys:-
  • If you want to delete a key from a private keys or public keys section you can do it by clicking “Delete” option next to the key.
  • A new interface will appear as shown below asking “Are you sure you wish to delete this key?
  • If you are sure then click “Yes” or click “No”

  • View GnuPG Keys:-
  • If you want to view a particular key from the Public keys or Private keys section then click the “View ” option next to that key. A new interface will appear for viewing the key. As follows:

  • Click “Go Back” for going back to the previous page.
