In the last blog, we have discussed Domain Aliases. In this blog, we will be discussing Domain Redirects.
Domain Redirects allows you to redirect one domain to another domain that means you can either redirect to a website or to a specific web page.
For Example: If you have a redirect as www.Hostripples.net then it will automatically redirect the users to the www.hostripples.com.
Select “Redirects” option under “Domains” section on cPanel dashboard, you will see the following screen:
Here you can see options like Add Redirect and Current Redirects.
Let’s discuss them in details:
Add Redirects : –
This option is used for creating Redirects. Its screen looks like as below:

Type: – This option is used for creating Permanent or Temporary Redirects.
One important point to be noted here is that: – A permanent redirect will notify the visitor’s browsers to update any bookmarks that are linked to the page that is being redirected. But temporary redirects will not update the visitor’s bookmarks.
So select the “Type” for the Redirect from the drop-down list.

Here select the domain from the menu or you have an option “All Public Domains“. If you select this option then it will redirect all the domains that your cPanel account controls.

In this text box enter the rest of the URL from which you wish for the server to redirect the visitors.
Redirects to:-
In this text box enter the URL to which you wish to redirect the user.
There is one more option : www.redirection: – It has the following options. Select any one option forms it.
Only redirect with www: – This will redirect only those visitor’s who will use www. as a prefix before the domain name part of the URL.
Redirect with or without www: – This option will redirect all the visitor’s who may or may not enter the www. prefix before the domain name part of the websites URL.
Do not Redirect www: – This option will not redirect that visitor’s who enter www as a prefix before the domain name part of the URL.
There is a checkbox: Wild Card Redirect : –
If you check this option then you will be able to redirects all the files in the directory to the new file name in the same directory.
Note: – You cannot use a Wild Card Redirect to redirect your main domain to a different directory on your site.
Click “Add” once you are confirmed.
Current Redirects : –
This table lists redirections that exist on your account.
For searching redirection, enter the search criteria in the search text box and click “Go”.
It lists the following information:
Domain: – Lists the domain to redirect.
Directory: – Lists the directory to redirect.
Redirect Url: – Lists the URL to which you wish to redirect the visitors to.
Type : – Type of Redirects like :1. Temporary or 2. Permanent
Match www. : – Only redirect visitors who enter the www. prefix before the domain name part of the URL.
Wildcard:- Redirects all the files in the directory to the new file name in the same directory.
Actions:- Available actions for redirects like Delete a redirection.
