In today’s Blog, we are going to discuss minor security changes to FTP, minor security changes to the Mail server and also activate Greylisting for your mail.
Greylisting is another defense against spamming which rejects emails from senders that it does not recognize. What generic mail senders should retry the delivery after which the server accepts that mail.
Here we are in the WHM home interface.
Let’s learn about Mail Server:-
If you want to force your customers and their clients to use a secure connection to the mail server scroll down a bit, another healthy setting is “Auto-Expunge Trash”. This cleans up trash and the way it messages the folders their customers on the server. Set that expire time to period such as 30 days.
This interface lets you configure various settings on the mail server such as forcing an Apache Spam Assassin ‘On’, on all accounts or using a blacklist such as Spam assassin options.
It will take a while for it to Exim to make the changes and then the mail server is ready and a confirmation message will appear.
You can enable Greylisting with the switch at the top of the interface. Click it to enable Greylisting. You can also add the enable Greylisting. You can also add the IP addresses of the trusted hosts.
Click the trusted host’s tab enter each IP address or range. Enter a comment to help identify them. And then click ‘Add’. A confirmation message will appear. Greylisting automatically trusts the IP addresses of the common mail providers.
You can enable or disable entries from this list and set them to automatically update when the provider’s change server addresses.
Finally, click Reports to check the Greylisting log files to see how the services performing. Why is the report empty? Because we just configured Greylisting that’s why!
