Know How To Set Email Authentication in cPanel

If you are looking for a solution to prevent spammers from forging messages that claim to be from your domain or domains then you can use Email Authentication tool provided by the cPanel.

It helps to prevent spam. Using various options provided by this tool, you can attempt to equip email messages with capable information so that the nature of incoming and outgoing messages can be detected automatically.

If you enable these features then it will reduce the number of failed delivery notifications you receive when spammers forge messages from your domain or domains.

If you want to access this interface then : login to cPanel ===> Email ===> Authentication.

The following interface will appear:

  • DKIM : –

It works to prevent incoming spam messages. i.e. it is a means of verifying incoming emails. It ensures that the messages which you receive are unmodified and it also confirms that the email messages you are receiving from the sender are from whom they claim to be.

Status: As seen in the above screenshot, you can see that the DKIM option’s status is Enabled Active.

Disable Status:- If you want to disable it then you can click “Disable”.

  • SPF : –

Status:– It is advisable that you should keep the status as ” Enabled (DNS Check Passed) Active (DNS Check Passed)”

Disable Status:-  If you wish to disable this option then click “Disable”.

Here you will see two options Add and Remove

Add:- Here you can add all the hosts that you specify to send mail.

Remove: – If you want to remove any host then select that host and click “Remove”.

  1. Additional MX servers for your domains (MX): Your server will allow all of the MX entries for every domain that you specify to send mail.

Add:- Here you can add MX servers for your Domain.

Remove: – If you want to remove and MX servers then click “Remove”.

Additional IP Address blocks for your domains (IPv4 or IPv6): Your server will allow all of the IP Address blocks that you specify to send mail.

Note: The main server interface IP cannot be removed from this list if it is present.

Add: – If you want to add additional IP address blocks for your domains then click “Add”.

Remove: –If you want to remove IP address blocks for your domains then click “Remove”.

Include List (INCLUDE): If you want to send email through another service then this option will be useful to you. It will include all the hosts in this list with your SPF settings.

Add:- Click “Add” if you want to add all the hosts with SPF settings.

Remove: – Click “Remove” if you want to remove any host from the list.

All Entry (ALL):

Check this box if you want to exclude all other domains, in case if you have entered all of the hosts that you wish to send mail for your domain.

Overwrite Existing Entries:

If you select this option all existing SPF records will be overwritten for all your domains with these selections.
