Enabling Let’s Encrypt for AutoSSL on WHM cPanel – Hostripples

AutoSSL Feature

The AutoSSL feature is automatically installed domain validated SSL Certificates on the user’s domain. cPanel and WHM ships with the cPanel powered by Comodo provider. You can also download the Let’s Encrypt provider as a Plugin. The provider that you select may have rate limits and domain limits such as the Maximum number of domains that you can secure on a post.

Let’s secure all the things!!

Let’s go ahead and login to WHM. Here we are in the WHM interface. The domains that you wish to secure with AutoSSL must have the AutoSSL feature enabled in the packet that they use.

Scroll down to “Packages”, and click “Feature Manager”. A feature Manager Interface will appear or select the default page from the list and then click edit. The Feature list will appear.

Enable the entire AutoSSL feature.

And click ‘Save’.

Now if I wanted to disable AutoSSL on the server, I can click select disable and edit that Feature list to include the AutoSSL Feature. This would disable AutoSSL for all packages on the server or if I want to allow only certain packages for AutoSSL to use, I can edit those packages as necessary.

It all depends on how you want to market AutoSSL and sell it to your users. Now that we have set up the AutoSSL Feature so let’s manage it.

Scroll down to “SSL/TLS “and click “manage AutoSSL”. The AutoSSL interface will appear.

The provider tab is available to choose an AutoSSL provider for the server. Select the one that you wish to use. Such as cPanel which powered by Comodo or select disabled to disable the feature for all the sites under the server. Select the option you would wish to use and click “save”. A confirmation message will appear.

The “Manage Users tab” allow you to overwrite the features list. These changes will affect the users directly. I will dismiss the confirmation message so you can see this screen.

You can also enable AutoSSL or disable AutoSSL and reset the AutoSSL to what you have in the feature list. You can also make these changes for multiple users, at the same time. Select the checkbox that allows at the left of each user then scroll up and click enable AutoSSL, disable AutoSSL or reset AutoSSL button.

To perform the AutoSSL checks on the user click each check button for that user.

Enable AutoSSL :

Disable AutoSSL:

Reset AutoSSL

The system will perform a background check back and posts the results in a log file. Let’s close the confirmation message, click “Run AutoSSL” all users at the top of the interface to run the AutoSSL feature for all users with the feature enabled. A confirmation message appears. Let’s close it.

The logs tab is to place the AutoSSL log files. This helps you to diagnose any issues with the provider. Let’s say you did have automatically renewed domains and the server security. AutoSSL will automatically renew the domains as they approach their expiration date.
